The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for New Zealand (OPCNZ) knew that many small businesses and organisations in New Zealand didn't have the privacy statements required by law on their websites and apps. They realised that a quick and casual, choose your own story system like backofanapkin.co.nz, could attract these users, help them to become legally compliant, and teach them a little about privacy law along the way.
OPCNZ selected Rabid to help them create this tool as an online Javascript app that they could host from their Silverstripe website. The tool’s goal was to increase the amount and quality of privacy statements found on New Zealand websites.
This was a quick turn around project where Rabid worked closely with the OPCNZ, calling on their organisational-knowledge and feedback from actual users to shape the tool's final design. Users are led through a smooth process which automatically generates a simple but effective privacy statement at the end.
